Book on Amazon

Sun Jun 14, 2009, 3:10 PM
Lulu has made my book 'Army' available on amazon. It's a compilation of lots of uniform , weapon and vehicle designs. If you suddenly go mental or have far too much money you may wish to buy a copy- [link]=peter+anckorn

You can see a preview of a few internal pages a Lulu- [link]
If you live in the Uk it may be cheaper to buy it here. Not sure though.

Excellent drawings!
Especially the aircrafts are fantastic!

your concepts are interesting, and your coloring style is excellent. a few things that you should improve are
1. straighter lines.
2. more accurate perspective.
3. practicing concentric circles and radial symmetry.
4. more thought given into internal structures of your vehicles. (many of them have gun turrets in places where the mounting and assembly would interfere with the operation of other structures, such as the transmission. also some of the turrets are close enough together to restrict movement.)
5. real world references. (to make things look like they might work, and for recognizable structures [helps with scale])
6. more thought given into the accommodations for operators of the weapons and vehicles. (many of your designs feature cockpits that would be impossible to enter or fit in.)

you are an amazing artist, and i hope to see more from you soon.

Thanks for the criteque! I'll just keep trying to improve. Do you have any tips in particular for concentric circles (other than lots of practice!) as this is a particular weakness I would like to improve upon.
I'm certainly no expert on engineering but these designs are in no way intended to be realistic or practicle. Impossible designs and bad ones are often confused. Being inspired by many of the poorer or more impracticle ideas of the early 20th century, many of my designs are bad-but I find a parculiar beauty in these flawed concepts. I then exagerate these ideas to absurd levels.
I'm really not one of these artists who obsess over technical details or whether something should work(like the mecha designers who will only draw something if they beleive it would function).
If a giant turret or 20 different guns crammed into one turret looks good to me I go with it.
I do agree with all your points however . History and the real world are certainly the best place to begin. Thankyou very much for taking the time to comment. Hopefully I can keep on improving:)

oh yeah one tip that i have for you, (as well as everyone else) - [link]
this also applies to nearly everything circular.
